Exploring the Academic Benefits of Student Engagement: A Case Study of University of Peshawar

Abstract

Education plays a critical role in the advancement of any nation, with student performance serving as a key indicator of the success of educational institutions. Various factors, including the availability of qualified teachers, study hours, and internet access, can influence academic outcomes. This study examines the impact of extracurricular activities on students' academic performance, utilizing data collected from 400 students at the University of Peshawar. The data were analysed using SPSS version 30, employing both descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. Descriptive analysis involved calculating and interpreting the percentages of different variable categories, while inferential analysis utilized the Chi-Square test for independence. The results suggest that gender and area of residence have a significant impact on student performance, whereas factors such as internet usage, home-based activities, part-time employment, and seminar attendance do not exhibit significant effects.
